Identifying office bearers
for the subsection
Currently, there is only a national delegate for the subsection.
It was felt that there is a need for at least one other office
bearer for the subsection. Therefore, it was proposed to have
a President for the subsection.
It was felt that as Prof. M.Gourie-Devi had played an important
role in getting the IFCN affiliation changed over to IAN and
because of her interest and contribution to clinical neurophysiology
in our country, Prof. M. Gourie-Devi be requested to be the
President of the subsection. Prof. Gourie-Devi’s name was
proposed by Dr.M.Veerendrakumar. It was accepted by all the
members.
As the National delegate takes care of all the correspondence
and other secretarial work of the subsection, it was felt
that there is no need for a separate post of Secretary for
the subsection. |

Organisation of Asian-Oceanian
Congress of Clinical Physiology (IFCN chapter meeting during
2012-2014)
Members concurred that the clinical neurophysiology subsection
of Indian Academy of Neurology should hold the chapter meeting.
As Indoneisia also wishes to hold this meeting, we will have
to contest this in the Asian-Oceanian Congress meeting scheduled
to be held at Seoul, South Korea (April 15-18, 2009). The
exact dates of this congress (2012-2014) will have to be finalised
by then. |

Payment of Annual Membership
Dues:
The member societies of IFCN have to pay their dues ($ 4 per
member) by 1st January of every year. In the last 3 years,
due to the difficulties in collecting annual membership dues
from members, dues are usually paid late. To reduce the expense
on postal charges and to streamline the payment of dues, it
was decided to collect dues for five years (Rs. 1000/-) from
all the members. This will reduce inconvenience to members
and will also help in timely payment of dues to IFCN. |
| 5. |
Fellowship in Clinical
Neurophysiology at identified centres in the country for those
who have completed DM in neurology and desire pursuing further
interest in the field.
a. It was decided to have further discussion on this issue |
| 6. |
Guidelines for training
of technicians
As many laboratories in the country are now providing clinical
neurophysiolgoical services, it was felt that there is a need
for framing guidelines so that optimal practices are followed.
One option suggested was to use ASET guidelines. These guidelines
may be modified to suit local requirements in our country.
Laboratories that follow/fulfil these guidelines may be given
accreditation. |

Ways and means of improving
the membership of neurologists.
At present, there are only 24 members in the subsection. For
effective functioning of the subsection and to make its impact
both nationally and internationally, there is a need to increase
the number of members in the subsection.
To increase the number of members in the subsection, Prof.
M.Gourie-Devi put forth the idea of regional representatives.
Each state/region may have member who would identify neurologists
and others interested in clinical neurophysiology and encourage
them to join the clinical nerophysiology subsection of IAN.
He/She may also facilitate the interaction among clinical
neurophysiology subsection members in the region. Provisionally,
the following members have been identified for the following
regions.
a) Dr.Garima Shukla – North India
b) Dr.S.K.Jha Bihar
c) Dr.A.K.Meena – Andhra Pradesh
Other members may come forward and function as regional representatives
in their area. (During the subsection meeting 8 new members
could be enrolled. Therefore, the current strength of the
subsection is 32) |

Including technicians/
technologists as members (or associate members) of the subsection
Currently, there is a society of the technicians/ technologists
under Neurological Society of India. This society is relatively
inactive. It was felt that this matter should be discussed
further to enable technicians/technologists to join clinical
neurophysiology subsection. |
